Powerhouse had the honor last weekend of marking the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's 50th Anniversary!
Joined by aerial performance artists from Australia and sparkling pyrotechnics, Powerhouse was also seen by many A-list stars at last weekend's gala celebration, including: Barbra Streisand, Betty White, Ryan Seacrest, Seal, Dustin Hoffman, Jim Carrey and Will Ferrell. It was an amazing evening, closed by Powerhouse's version of Happy Birthday and a 45-minute dance with globes while the guests made their way out. Congratulations, Powerhouse!
Powerhouse got to join other choirs, dancers, opera singers and Dance the Dream in Part 3 of the video trilogy produced by The Dream at 50 in collaboration with the L.A. Dance Project. The videos feature some of the top professional and student dance and music groups throughout Los Angeles County, including the Los Angeles Ballet, L.A. Opera, La Santa Cecelia, Diavolo, and No)one. And John Burroughs High School!

The JBHS Vocal Music Associations' premier mixed show choir, Powerhouse, gave a stunning performance for tonight's Dancing With The Stars. ABC's own press release says the following:
This week's "School of Rock" themed Macy's Stars of Dance performance will feature all-star kid musicians from national School of Rock and one of the best showchoirs in the country, The Powerhouse Choir from John Burroughs High School in Burbank, California. The number will be choreographed by Travis Wall. The Powerhouse Choir has performed opposite the cast of "Glee" on the Oprah Winfrey Show and was the school that inspired the hit fox television series. In addition, they've performed at numerous national and regional events, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for the Gala Opening of the Resnick Pavilion, "The Unmasking," opposite Christina Aguilera and The Canadian Tenors, the Season 2 "Glee" Cast Premier Party at Paramount Studios and the 1st Annual PFLAG L.A. Event at the London Hotel. They've received the following awards and accolades: 2009 Grand Champions of FAME National Showchoir Cup in NYC; 2008 Grand Champions of FAME Chicago National Showchoir Competition; they were featured on "Gleeful: The Real Show Choirs of America," a British documentary about competitive showchoirs; and they performed in concert with Foreigner at the Gibson Amphitheater and the Citizen's Bank Arena.
Season 2 of the hit FOX television show Glee kicked off with a bang on September 7th at the Paramount Lot with a party for cast and crew. 9 members of Powerhouse played the part of “real life Glee” singing some of the hit songs from the first season of the show.
Members of Powerhouse dressed in the infamous 18th Century costumes were seen flanking the red carpet at the Gala Opening of the Resnick Pavillion at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on September 25th 2011. Powerhouse welcomed guests with a performance art piece designed by Jen Oundjian and accompanied by Dan Scoville based on several Mozart piano pieces.
On Friday, October 1st, Powerhouse performed on the rooftop of the London Hotel in West Hollywood for the 1st Annual “LA Event” hosted by PFLAG (Parents, Friends and Family of Lesbians and Gays). Powerhouse was a surprise guest, introduced by Jane Lynch and beginning their performance of “Vogue” flash mob style from positions throughout the audience. They followed with “Somebody to Love” and were described by many as the “highlight” of the night. Following their performance, Powerhouse was seated poolside to enjoy the rest of the program including an up-close performance by Nelly Furtado.
How do you pump up a crowd? The Direct Sellers Association recently hired the John Burroughs show choir, Powerhouse, to perform at the Centennial Gala of their 2010 Annual Meeting. Guests were entertained and inspired by the students performing part of their 2010 competition set.
