The award was given at the 2017 Jimmy Awards at the Minskoff Theater hosted by Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen, Pitch Perfect). Based on her Best Actress win at the Jerry Herman Awards, Brighton Thomas was a featured soloist in the Jimmy Awards closing number.
